What does power mean to you? Is it having money, control, or being famous?  Yes, these things can contribute to your power but I have a different idea.  As a life coach, I have helped many celebrities and CEO’s who are feeling powerless. Strange isn’t it? The people who have the most money, fame and success often feel the most powerless. I believe that true power lies in our ability to choose. Many people feel that they have no where to go, no freedom to make choices. Yet, many times they do have choices, but they just need to have the courage and support to make them.

One of my clients was feeling powerless because he wanted to be a musician but felt that he couldn’t give up his day job as a banker to follow his dream.  He was afraid that he could not support himself with his music.  He felt he had no choice, but in reality he did.  Yes, he had to make some budget cuts to accommodate his lower income as a musician, but the only thing holding him back was his fear that he would not be successful.  With some encouragement, we set up a life plan for him to pursue a career in music and now one year later, he has a record deal and has just celebrated his first record release party.  Take full advantage of these choices by meeting them with courage. Stay dynamic and accomplish your dreams. That is power.
